Blue Bonnet Festival

For the last three years we've gone to the Blue Bonnet Festival. It's basically just a craft fair held in a little town called Chappel Hill which is out side of Brenham, TX. After we walked up and down the street of the festival, got a corndog and took some pictures we decided it was time to leave. The real reason we went this year was to get some pictures in the Blue Bonnets. In the grassy fields around the town there are tons of Blue Bonnets. People pull off to the side of the highway to climb over fences into private fields and take pictures, smashing the flowers where they walk and sit. Even the first day of the festival it was hard for us to find a spot where the flowers weren't smashed to take a picture. Climbing the fence was the hardest part, but then again, hiking the field in flip flops wasn't easy either, but it was all part of the experience.

New Mexico Trip

This afternoon I got back from spending the last week in New Mexico with Whitney visiting my family. My sister Melodie and her little boy Gene got to come too. The trip started out rough because of some mechanical complications with Mel's plane in Columbus, it had an oil leak. Because of that, her flight was delayed and I was afraid she wouldn't make her connection in Houston. I was bummed thinking that she may have to come in the next morning because I was on the last flight from Houston to El Paso for the day. Because it was the last flight, and the fact the Gene was with Mel, my plane was delayed to wait for her. Luckily, everything turned out alright. Mel and I both used a sling to carry our babies. Hands free travel is definitely the way to go.

I was so glad that I got to see all my family that lives there in New Mexico and that they were able to see Whitney. I should have taken more pictures, but there was a lot going on and during those candid moments I forgot all about the camera. Next time I visit, I'll take more. But until then, here are the ones I have:

Even though the trip was short, we had lots of fun. During the time we were there we met for lunch, shopped, watched movies, and had big family dinners. Also, My mom got some of her friends together to meet the baby at a brunch. Mom had fun showing Whitney off. I hope to be able to visit again soon!

Diaper Changing Smiles

This morning when I was changing Whitney's diaper and getting her dressed she was really happy. I thought it would be fun to take a video of her. She's getting more alert of what's going on around her, and makes lots of baby noises. She loves to kick her little legs and flap her little arms.

This is after Whitney's all dressed!
Her shirt says "50% mom + 50% dad = 100% cute"

Active Again!

This Sunday was Whitney's first time at Church. She slept through all of sacrament meeting and would have slept longer if we didn't take her out of her carrier to show her to people. I kept her home for so long because the Pediatrician said that since it was RSV season it was a good idea not to bring her to church or any places where she would be exposed to a lot of people at once til she was 2 months old. Since I'm a first time mom, I am a little paronoid about her getting sick, but I thought it was time to become an active member again. I thought that it was going good until we were standing in the hallway talking to people, Whitney was in her carrier, and I happened to look down at her just in time to see a little girl touch Whitney's cheek and then slip her finger into Whitney's mouth! I didn't know what to do because the little girl didn't know any better so I just leaned down and said, "Don't touch the baby." in my nicest voice. I hope Whitney doesn't get sick and have me regret taking her to church. I've missed going to church over the last month or so, I'm glad I'm active at church again.

Glamour Shots!

Here's the best of the 500 pictures that the lady in my ward took of Whitney (and us) a few weeks ago. I am framing most of them because they are so cute!
