A trip to Las Cruces, NM

For the last week I've been in Mew Mexico visiting my parents and other family. I know it seems like I was just there, which I was, but I wanted to go back just for fun! Thanks to DING! on Southwest I got my ticket for super cheap so I figured why not! While I was home I tried to help out with my Dad's campaign(he's running for US Congress) but it was harder then I thought trying to help and also keep Whitney entertained. She loves being in her sling, so if I wanted to get anything done, I put her in the sling and she was happy and I could work.

I hung out with Cody (my sister-in-law) a few times. I went with her to the library for a song a story time with other moms and babies. Whitney had fun for a few minutes and then she got tired and fussy. Wyatt (Cody and Abe's son) also wasn't really into playing with the other kids this time. Since the kids weren't really involved we left and went to Applebees for lunch. We also went to the Mall together and the kids let us shop around for at least an hour. We bought matching under tanks.

My mom's sister Tracy came down to visit. It was nice to get to see her and have her meet Whitney. On Saturday night my mom, grandmother , aunt Tracy and I played scrabble. I won by at least 50 points. A few of the nights I was there my mom and I watched House Hunters and Hidden Potential on HGTV at night after Whitney was in bed.

Sunday night Sam got out his mini-motorcycle and everyone took a turn riding it. I got myself on video riding it. Once I got going it wasn't hard at all! Enjoy the video:

Happy Mother's Day!!

Happy Mother's Day! Since this was my first mother's day, I didn't know what to expect. I've only been a mother for a little over three months now, and, well I guess it didn't really hit me until today when I actually thought about what it meant. To me it means that Whitney is my own little science experiment to raise and mold as I wish (with the exception of Brig's influence). I know she'll have her own personality, but her experiences with me and Brig will also make her who she will be as an adult. Whitney has been such a blessing and a test of my own selflessness in taking care of her every need. So far, I love everything about being a mother, dirty diapers, nursing for 3-4 hours a day, reading to a three month old who just smiles at the pictures, everything. However, I don't know yet if I enjoy everything because I actually do or if it's because it's all new and exciting. Brig has been there along the way to help out when he can. I don't know if I would have such a positive attitude about motherhood if he wasn't there to help and show support along the way. So now that we only have one kid and time to sit in silence and watch her sleep I can have a positive attitude, but we'll see in a few years when we have more kids what kind of attitude I have. :o)

The Game of TAG!

My sister-in-law Connie has tagged me into the 'get to know you' blog game. So I hope you all enjoy getting to know me better!

1. What were you doing 10 years ago?
I was finishing up my junior year of high school, nothing really that exciting. I ran hurdles in track, I wasn't very good at it, but I tried.

2. Five things on your to do list today.
(not that I’ll get them done today)

• Post office
• Vacuum
• Make dinner
• Get a gift for Hannah (bridal shower)
• Return some things

3. Snacks I enjoy
• Yogurt covered Raisins
• White Chocolate Pudding
• Muddy Buddy Chex Mix

4. What would I do if I was suddenly a billionaire?
I would buy myself a new car, since mine is looking really ugly, but it works and most of all the air conditioner works great so it will do for now. Build my dream house and buy a vacation home in Hawaii. Travel and then put the rest in a high interest savings account.

5. Three bad habits
• Sleeping in… not so much anymore now that we have Whitney, but so far she sleeps til about 9am.
• Making excuses for things I should be doing but don’t want to.
• Leaving clean laundry in the basket instead of putting it away. Then finally putting it away when I’ve worn and dirtied most the clothes in the basket and it’s about time to do laundry again.

6. Five places I've lived
• Carthage, MO
• Las Cruces, NM
• Rexburg, ID
• Provo, UT
• Friendswood, TX

7. Five jobs I've had
• Sonic Car-Hop(1yr)
• Nanny(3yrs)
• Kindergarten Teacher Aid(1yr)
• Computer Lab Tech(1yr)
• 1st and 2nd Grade Teacher(3yrs)

8. Five things that (some) people don't know about me.
• I play the guitar. I would play better if I practiced more!
• If I had to do it over again I would have become a Dietician instead of a teacher. Not that I don’t like kids, cause I do, but the school system micro-manages every minute of the day (at least here in Texas) so the kids and the teachers don’t get to do very many fun things in the classroom.
• I like to window shop!
• My favorite kind of Ice cream has to have peanut butter and chocolate in it.
• I have a hard time making up my mind on lots of things, especially when it doesn’t matter either way.

I tag Texas, Courtney(now you have something to blog about), Jenny, Jessica and Amy
1. Answer all the questions about yourself
2. After you are done posting, tag 5 people
