Sleep Training

For Whitney's first three weeks she was sleeping in the bed with me, and Brig was on the couch. Last Monday night we decided to start training her to sleep in her own bed all because I started reading this book "On Becoming Baby Wise" and it's supposed to help train an infant to sleep through the night by the time they're eight weeks old. The first night we tried it she cried for what seemed like forever; I cried too. We were in our bed just listening to her, I should have left or distracted myself somehow. It was really hard not to go pick her up a hold her. Well, now a week later, Whitney is doing much better about sleeping in her own bed. I lay her down and she might cry for a little bit, but she usually goes right to sleep! I'm feeling much more rested because at night she'll sleep for 4 to 5 hours at a time, so I'm able to get a better night's sleep. I hope she really will sleep all the way through the night in another 4 weeks of training.

Training a newborn to sleep through the night sounds rough, but I am sure it is well worth it. When Carson is born I would like to borrow your book...that is if you are done with it.

Way to stick with it Beth! You will be so glad you stuck it out.

I remember when Wyatt looked that thin in his crib. She looks so sweet.

That's a book I remember reading while traing Bryce...but, he was 6 months when that happened and whoa was that ever hard. I think I cried more than he did. :) Another one you might try is The Baby Whisperer. There's a book and a video. But, it sounds like Whitney is doing great and "onbecoming" able to sooth herself! :) Good job!
